The base of the National Fire Fighter rugby team is at the Sport Activities Office where all official communications should be addressed.

Scudetto della Rappresentativa nazionale di rugbyThe official activity of the National Fire Fighters Rugby Team was born on November 18th, 2004 in Frascati-Cocciano (Rome) in a match against Slashers Rugby Team ( the british army team) that was guest in Italy by the General Army Staff, and it ended on January 11th, 2006 when it was suspended for technical reasons.
In these period of time it faced the Equipes Rugby Sapeurs-Pompiers Aquitaine-Limousin, a French selection with great traditions and it has participated to other matches in Italy, including the 4th edition of the Rome Seven, but the most important event was the victory of the sports-title which still gives it fame: in 2005, in Quebec city (Canada) won the World Game for Police and Fire Fighters and for this reason obtain the CIAR award ( Italian acronym for ¿Club Italia Amatori Rugby¿, an issuing of Italian Rugby Federation).
The activity restarts officially on may 23rd, 2009 in Brescia with the participation to the charity tournament for the Onlus Committee ¿aiuta Camilla¿.
The staff is composed by players in activity in the Federal Championships of excellence, A, B, and C all parts of National Fire Fighters Corp.
The aim is to spread the image of Fire Fighters Corp taking part, at invitation, to prestigious sports events, including against national and foreign fire fighters teams and also of other forces, and charity events; waiting for the organization, with the other fire fighters interested, of the ¿6 Fire Fighters¿ Nations¿, in Italy it was played in Calvisano (BS) since June 17th to 19th, 2010 the first edition of the ¿3 Fire Fighter Nations¿ of Rugby, that the representative won with merit. In order to this, a special title for the activity 2010 by the CIAR was assigned.
In the 2011, the Fire Fighters representative won the second edition of the same tournament that took place in Cardiff in Wales one of the native countries of rugby. In July, it has also won the ¿plate¿ at the prestigious Cortina Seven.
However, the history of rugby in the Fire Fighters has some past records before and after the aforesaid period. In fact, even in 1943 a Fire Fighters team from the 54th Corp of Naples won the National Championship of the Second Division. Later, at the end of Nineties, the staff spontaneously created a team managed without any supervision and set itself the target of participating to World Police and Fire Fighters Game (Stockholm 1999, Paris 2000, Indianapolis 2001, Christchurch 2002, Barcelona 2003, Sheffield 2004, Hong Kong 2006, Adelaide 2007, Liverpool 2008, Vancouver 2009, Daegu 2010). During these various World Games this team won medals and important placing in seven athletes version, also thanks to the cooperation of the Italian Rugby Federation. This unofficial team was named ¿Cavaliers¿.
In 2002, CIAR gave it ¿the revelation team of the year award¿, whose ceremony took place before the final match at Plebiscito in Padova on May 31st, 2003. Other than ¿seven¿ activity, the team also made various experiences in the classic ¿15 athletes version¿, against Swiss National Team (defeat), Austrian National Team (victory) and French Selection (defeat).
Over the years, media have also concentrated on the rugby activity of Fire Fighters: TELE + (the current SKY) sent a tv crew during team¿s meeting, producing a report of about 30 minutes which sent on air and replied in the further months a lot of times, obtaining a positive feedback, and Sky Sport, on December 14th , 2009 with the show ICARUS, made and sent on air an interview to Massimo Ravazzolo, the backbone of National Fire Fighters Rugby Team who has 25 caps with the Italian National Team in his sports curriculum.
Among the players who were part of the team, it¿s worth to mention Andrea Masi ¿ the best player in the World Championship in Christchurch ¿ that now is the strength of the major National Team.
